Sep 3 9.24 Jesus passed through Jericho where Zachaeus, a rich chief tax collector lived. As he was a short man, he ran ahead of the crowd and climbed a sycamore tree in order to see him. When Jesus reached the tree. He looked up and said, “Zachaeus, come down quickly. I must stay in your house today.” So he came down to welcome him with joy. On seeing this, the people murmured, “He has gone to be a sinners guest.”1

But Zachaeus stood and said to the Lord, “I give half of my belongings to the poor, and if I blackmailed anyone, I repay fourfold.”

Jesus replied, “Today salvation came to this house, for he too is Abrahams son.2 For the Son of man came to seek and save what was lost.3 The crowd, expecting Gods kingdom4 to appear immediately because he was near Jerusalem, listened while Jesus told this parable:
