Dec 9 15.1 It was now the day of preparation next to a special Sabbath. The Jews wanted the crosses empty for the Sabbath, so they asked Pilate to break the mens legs and remove their bodies. So, the soldiers broke the legs of the men crucified with Jesus. When they saw that Jesus was already dead, they didnt break his legs. But a soldier pierced his side, and immediately blood and water gushed out. This is the true account of a honest witness, so that you also may believe.1 This fulfilled the scripture which declares, “None of his bones will be broken,” and “They look on him whom they had pierced.”
