Dec 20 As they approached Emmaus, he prepared to be going further, but they urged him to stay with them since it was getting dark. He agreed. Later, as he ate with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and was passing it when their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. Then he vanished.

They asked each other, “As he explained the scripture to us on the road, didnt our hearts burn?”

They quickly returned to Jerusalem, found the eleven and others together who were saying, “Its true! The Lord has risen and had appeared to Simon.” The two related their experience on Emmaus road, and how they recognized him when he broke bread. They left and told the rest disciples who also disbelieved.3
