Aug 10 9.10 A certain rich man always dressed expensively and lived everyday in merriment. At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores, who longed for crumbs from the rich mans table, rather dogs came and licked his sores. Eventually, Lazarus died and angels carried him into Abrahams bosom. Later the rich man died and was buried. In hell, he saw Abraham far away and Lazarus with him. He called, Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip his finger in water and cool my tongue, for Im suffering in this flame. Abraham replied, Remember, son, in your earthly life you received good things, while Lazarus received the bad. Now he is comforted while you suffer.1 Besides, there is a great divide between us which cant be crossed from either side.

Aug 11 He answered, I beg you then, send Lazarus to my five brothers in my fathers house to warn them, lest they also end up here in torment. Abraham replied, They have Moses and the prophets to listen to. He pleaded, No, father Abraham, if someone goes to them from the dead, theyll repent. Abraham replied, If they dont hear Moses and the prophets, they wont, even if someone rises from the dead.2
