Mar 7 5.17 One day, Jesus went up the mountain and spent all night praying1 to God. At dawn, he called his followers and chose the twelve he named apostles, who were to be with him that he might send them to preach and to expel demons.2 The twelve were: Simon Peter, Zebedees sons James and John - whom he nicknamed Boanerges, meaning “sons of Thunder”- Andrew, Peters brother, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus3 or Judas4 of James, Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, the betrayer.
