Dec 25 Breakfast over, Jesus asked Peter, “Simon John, do you love me more than these?” He replied, “Yes, Lord. You know I love you.”
Jesus said, “Feed my lambs,” and again, “Simon, do you love me?” Peter replied, “Yes, Lord. You know I love you.” The Lord said, “Shepherd my flock.”
A third time Jesus asked, “Simon, do you love me?” Peter, grieved at the Lord’s insistence, said, “Lord, you know everything. You know I love you.”
Jesus said, “Feed my sheep. When you were young you dressed yourself and went wherever you chose; but when you get old, you will stretch your hands and someone else will dress and take you where you won’t want go.” Jesus said this to show the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God.
Dec 26 Then Jesus said “Follow me.” Turning, Peter saw following, the disciple whom Jesus loved, who leaned on him at the supper and who asked who the betrayer would be. Peter, therefore, asked Jesus, “Lord, what about him?” Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain till I return, what is that to you? You follow me!” A rumor spread among the brethren that this disciple wouldn’t die. However, Jesus didn’t say he wouldn’t die, but rather, “If I want him to remain till I return, what is that to you?”
