Dec 9 15.1 It was now the day of preparation next to a special Sabbath. The religious populace wanted the crosses empty for the Sabbath, so they asked Pilate to break the mens legs and remove their bodies. So, the soldiers broke the legs of the men crucified with Jesus. When they saw that Jesus was already dead, they didnt break his legs. But a soldier pierced his side, and immediately blood and water gushed out. This is the true account of a honest witness, so that you also may believe.1 This fulfilled the scripture which declares, “None of his bones will be broken,” and “They look on him whom they had pierced.”

Dec 10 In the evening of the Sabbath, Joseph of Arimathea, a righteous rich councillor and secret disciple awaiting Gods kingdom, who never agreed with their reasoning and actions, went boldly to Pilate and asked for Jesus body. Assured by the same captain2 that Jesus was dead, Pilate gave Jesus corpse to Joseph.
